The night the Circus had been preparing for had finally arrived! After word was sent out that the Circus would be holding a Halloween festival, interested people began to gather on the circus grounds, arriving in large numbers. Children ran about the area, searching for their treats with parents on their tail. Stands and booths were set all over the grounds, welcoming the trick-or-treaters with games and sweets and plenty of other means of entertainment.
A large bonfire was placed in the center, covering all of the grounds with a bright glow that was assisted by the moonlight. A platform was set with musical performances of a few of the volunteering performers with a crowd of spectators clapping and cheering them on as they were successfully entertained. Tents were being visited by children who gave the candy bearers an option of tricks or treats. All seemed happy and pleasant. Except for one area that was haunted with the screams of thrill seekers.
The Big Tent was decorated and turned into the Circus's very own haunted house! Within, the illusionist performer managed to turn the tent into a real life haunted house, frightening anyone who entered with ease.
Cheshire stood before the tent, standing at the entrance wearing a top hat and ripped up suit with a bit of fake blood dripping from the corner his mouth. His hair ears and tail were dyed black, in order to darken his appearance for the night. It was his attempt to join in the Halloween spirit. Of course, no one really knew what on earth he was supposed to be. Neither did he actually. He hoped someone could tell him.
After an hour or so, Mother stood in for him, allowing him to take a quick break. Though it actually took a bit of reasoning to actually get him to leave.
The Cheshire Cat roamed the grounds, investigating and examining to see how well things were going. So far, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, even the performers! Good. He hoped everyone could be happy tonight. He continued to search the grounds, hoping to find some recognizable faces among the crowd.

Zeek was stood in a bizarre get up. His fringe had been swept to the side, but it was generally in its casual high ponytail. Only, it was no longer lilac; but a burning red. His roots were orange, though, to add to the effect, along with yellow highlights. His eyes, also no longer purple, were now a deep crimson - contacts bought just for the ocassion. And his attire that of a formal, but different one. His usual style was formal, but today it was going over the top, in an entirely new way. A thin satin waistcoat rested upon Zeek's chest. There would've been a shirt beneath that, but Zeek had promised an outfit, and he had stayed to his word. Down his arms were fake gashes, and his waistcoat had a stain of blood on the back. His pants were also satin, also white, also blood stained. His shoes matched his pants and waistcoat, as the man walked along, he found himself getting glances from the people in the crowd. The intellect was not shocked, for he had a blade at his side, a crystal dagger he didn't leave home without. This too, had blood dripping down from the tip, staining the grass as he walked by.
Zeek had set himself up for working at the coconut stand, and was headed there now, but he couldn't resist the urge to bend over and scare a few children. He did nothing major, however, a boo here and a oogah boogah there. It was enough to cheer him up. Not that he'd had a bad day, it was just a little stressing, having to prepare for the night's events.
Fulgidus passed by the Haunted House, his hair swishing as he did so. He brushed past Cheshire, and decided to stop, just to be polite. His stall was calling him, but there was no need for him to be rude to his Boss. "Boo, sir." Zeek said lamely. Although he looked the part, he really couldn't act it.

Quite an interesting array of costumes people wore. He had to admit, he had a favorite out of the bunch. A small girl was dressed as a black cat. The reasons why he liked it should be rather obvious.
He passed by a few crowded stands, grabbing a tempting caramel apple along the way. He couldn't help it. Who could resist? As he bit into the sweet treat. A familiar voice caught his attention. Golden eyes searched and he found the man, his eyes widening slightly at the sight. It took him a moment to recognize but as soon as he had, he had a wide grin. "Ah! Boo to you too, Zeek," he replied with an amused laugh.
Cheshire inspected further, rocking on his heels and licking the caramel off the apple. "Very interesting costume! The eyes are rather intimidating," he commented. "Scare any children yet?"

Post by Ardea on Oct 26, 2010 18:30:54 GMT -5
Ardea sat in a booth a little smaller then the stands that were set up all around the circus grounds. She sat on a high stool that made her just a little taller than the crowd of people walking through the festivities. She was dressed as a witch – mostly because she couldn’t think of anything else on such short notice and because she had always had a soft spot for the poor, mistreated women. The outfit she had made herself with what little sewing skills she could remember from her lessons before the experiments.
The black dress was simple enough. It was a halter-top style and fit her well. It was snug from in the torso area, though at her waist it cinched and then hung around her legs elegantly, ending right above her feet, which adorned a pair of short, black, high-heeled boots. On her forearms were black velvet strands of fabric that she had stitched long, wispy, black sleeves that reached down all the way to her wrists, where her silver bracelet held its place. The best part of her outfit, however, was her hat. It was the classic witches hat and it fit snuggle atop her head. What made it special, however, was the stone set atop the ribbon. The stone was a crimson color that looked as though it had a small flame flickering within it. In fact, it did, though Ardea wasn’t about to let that little secret out.
Her makeup was dark, but sensual, and she used this to attract her customers. Ardea was working the second shift of the kissing booth. After about a half-hour of walking around, Ardea had relieved the previous girl of her duties and she had stepped up to the position, sitting on the tall stool beneath the sign that red “Kissing Booth” in elegant golden script.
All around her the sounds of the circus circulated and Ardea couldn’t help but be uplifted by all of the excitement. This was a wonderful event and it seemed like everyone was enjoying himself or herself. She was waving goodbye to a group of teenage boys who had all been dared to go get a kiss. Ardea had been happy to comply, glad that she was able to do her part and acquire money for the circus. She wondered idly if she should go and brandish her talents later on the stage. Eh, perhaps. For now, though, she had to focus on her job.
Turning to the small line before her, Ardea checked the time quickly on the clock hanging in the stand. She only had fifteen minutes or so until her shift was over and she currently had three men awaiting her. The one in front was a tall, handsome young man who looked like he was a few years older than she. He had dark brown hair and dark, intelligent-looking eyes. He wasn’t dressed up, but Ardea didn’t mind. He looked good in his jeans and t-shirt. He smiled warmly up at her and she felt her cheeks redden slightly, though she was able to hide it behind a brilliantly charming smile. Yes, there were some perks to this job.
“Good evening,” Ardea greeted, smiling at the young man. There were two others behind him. They were two boys who were probably around her age – give or take a year. One, obviously the braver of the two, had golden blonde hair and an athletic build while the other seemed more interested in the ground, obviously embarrassed at what he was about to do.
“Hello,” the man in front returned, handing her the money. Ardea’s grin widened considerably as she took the offered cash. She turned back to the man after counting the money and smiled warmly at him. He looked excited and Ardea couldn’t help but let out a little happy chuckle at his expression. She leaned down slowly, letting her hand grace slowly across his cheek, and then gave him one soft little kiss on the lips. She pulled back with a smile, hoping he got his money’s worth. [/center]

Zeek almost went to touch his hair, but chose not to. His typical habit of playing with his hair would ruin the whole 'scary' effect he had going. He coughed softly, looking down to the cat man, with the top hat. "Ah, thank you, I'm not sure what I'm meant to be; but it's got the job done." Zeek smiled meekly, eyebrows knotting together at his embarassment. "A few children have sort of..No. I try, but they laugh." The temporarily red haired man grinned, his hands firm at his side.
"I was just about to head over to the coconut stand, considering I'm looking after it for the night. So I suppose I had best be going." Zeek mumbled, from here he could see a small group forming around the coconut stand. Okay. Maybe I was wrong, maybe it is a little popular.

Cheshire smirked playfully as Zeek explained his costume and how he wasn't sure what he was supposed to be. "Ah! I understand. Don't worry. I'm having problems with that as well," he laughed. Yeah he hadn't had any luck scaring anyone either. They just thought his ears and tail were 'cute', not even paying attention to what was actually his costume.
"I was just about to head over to the coconut stand, considering I'm looking after it for the night. So I suppose I had best be going."
"Hmm... Alright," he looked over towards the coconut stand to see the small group before it. "Well it looks like you've got customers waiting. Be sure to take a break and have fun, though." he replied with a smile.
