Ardea couldn’t help but send a quick glare at Zeek’s snicker as she clutched her hungry stomach. Oh yes, it was quite funny, wasn’t it? She rolled her eyes, though, and the annoyance was passed, especially when she heard his request. Now, Ardea and Zeek took this little request quite differently. Where Zeek felt like he was walking on thin ice by asking Ardea to find something to eat, Ardea viewed it as simply a friendly gesture. She’d never take that the request as too forward or anything like that simply because she found that all of the circus members were as good as family to her.
“Sounds great,” she said cheerfully, slipping out of the chair and walking towards the opening of the big top. Her stomach growled again and she sent it a quick glare before reached the opening. She turned to Zeek, furrowing her brow at that point.
“Where shall we head?” she questioned. This statement was only half aimed for Zeek while she was also wondering where they should eat to herself. They could always head to the nearby town where there were sure to be some rather delicious smells emanating from the restaurants or they could go to the cafeteria-like area on the circus grounds, set up for the performers. And then there was the third option, them going to either of their homes and eating something there. Ardea wasn’t exactly in the mood to have Zeek see the destruction that was known as her home and she guessed that he would be a tad too formal to invite her to his home, so that option was probably not going to be accepted. Zeek looked at her, smiling. His teeth glinted, as he walked after her. "I'm thinking the new Italian in the town?" Zeek had eaten there once before, when he hadn't particularly wanted to cook. It was quite nice, albeit he had only eaten there once, their pizza and spaghetti was really enough to make you drool. However, he didn't know if she wanted to. For all he knew the little woman was a fearful hater towards the Italian foodstuffs.
"You know, I hardly know you. Tell me about you?" Now Zeek knew he was being forward. Plus it was one of things you asked to a one night stand. Once again, he hoped she didn't find him piggish or rude. That was the last thing he needed.

The new Italian place? Wasn’t it called Roberto’s Place or something? Ardea couldn’t think of the name off the top of her head, but from the grumbling in her stomach it was obvious that Italian sounded rather delicious to the young woman. So it was decided. Italian it was.
“Italian sounds great,” she replied, chuckling as they started off in the direction of the town.
Ardea contemplated his request for a long time. It was a rather vague question, though it held a lot of meaning behind it. He wanted to get to know her and of course Ardea viewed that as a good thing. She always wanted to get to know the other performers at the circus and she had been particularly interested in the purple-haired man beside her ever since she had seen his little entrance presentation while she spied on the auditions.
“Well…” she said slowly, still trying to think of something interesting to say. “There really isn’t anything all that great about me. I don’t remember anything from before the experiments and after the experiments I was an agent for a while. Well, that is before I met Ches and he saved me from all that and brought me here.” At this point Ardea’s mouth flickered into a little smile and happiness just thinking about the ringleader. Really it was amazing how the thought of her number one idol could send such emotion through her. “I like fire, obviously, and really enjoy cats. Uhm… I’m not very organized and sometimes strange little things and skills and memories from my past will pop into my head.”
Ardea turned to Zeek, sending him a little sheepish grin, a tad embarrassed that she had exposed all of this so quickly. “What about you?”

Zeek smiled as she accepted, flicking his fringe out of his eyes as the pair began walking. It had been warmer when he had entered the tent, and now it was a little chilly, perhaps uncomfortable, but that could soon be changed. He took only a moment out of their conversation to snap his wrist to the left, knocking all chill around them into another area. He didn't heat the air - as without the autumn chill the area they were in was quite pleasant.
He returned to listening to her a few seconds later, nodding every now and then as he let the information sink in. He was grateful she was trusting him enough to open up and tell him her history. Not many people would up and tell others things. She was either very inexperienced in that area, which he doubted, with her being a former Agent she figured she must have had a lot of other strengths in her body other than her powers. Or - she was just very trusting. A noble and solid minded feature in Zeek's eyes. He was never very open, but as she requested his past, he felt it would be rude to decline. And being rude around someone so nice and open was out of the question.
"Mm..I remember a bit about my past. I was kidnapped as a child, as was my brother. We were gone for a couple of weeks before returning, and we didn't tell our mother anything about what had happened to us. Bless her, we didn't want her to get hurt emotionally, she had gone through enough." Zeek smiled at the memory of his mother before she knew of her children's abilties. "But one day I made the mistake of a thunder clap, and Mum found us. She couldn't look us in the eye, she was almost ashamed. She couldn't take it, and Charlie and I looked after ourselves. He's..Well, he went willingly with Agents." Zeek finished. "But as for me, I'm just trying to understand the world so I can grow old to be one of those men that everyone comes to for answers." Zeek smiled back at her, his pointed nose wrinkling. "Not sure if that's what you were looking as an answer though." Zeek admitted, rubbing the back of their neck as they left the circus grounds and entered the city's fast food neighborhood. They'd go through that, he assumed, to get to the Italian.

Ardea listened to Zeek’s little explanation of his life and smiled faintly at it. She couldn’t help but feel a bit of jealousy towards the young man for still having his memories from before the experiments. Ardea would literally give anything to know what her life had been like before she was taken to those damn scientists. She would give up her powers, her freedom, hell, she’d give up her life at the circus to know what her life had been before all of this had rocked it.
“That was fine Zeek,” she replied, chuckling at his tad bit of awkwardness. “You really should have a bit more confidence in yourself.”
She glanced around at the surrounding food places and her stomach let out another little grumble of hunger. She let out a little sigh, laughing lightly at herself. “I guess I’ll be eating my fill.” It was then that, a few yards away, Ardea spotted the Italian restaurant that was their destination. She distinctly brightened at the sight of it and her pace increased ever so slightly.

He smiled at her words, unaware of her jealousy towards him. But if she had expression her green emotion, he would have been able to tell the small, red haired girl that she should not have felt so. The memories he had were a constant pain to him. A constant fear, a constant reminder that he had changed and that his family no longer loved him. A reminder that he was not who he used to be.
Zeek returned to reality as she spoke. He looked down at her with a small smile. "Yeah, I guess." He slid his fingers down to rest in his slim pockets, his hair shuddering in the wind that was still, deciding to follow them.
He, however, didn't notice her pace increase, he had been a little ahead of her in the first place. Being so tall he had long legs, and everyone knows long legs make for a wider set pace. So Zeek was quite comfortable. "Didn't think you were that hungry." He mentioned though, referring to her angry stomach.

“Ugh,” Ardea groaned, sheepishly glancing at the ground as they came up to the restaurant and Zeek made the hungry comment. She felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that she was so hungry, though she wasn’t particularly sure why. They walked in and one of the young men working as a waiter ushered them towards a table set for two. It was set in the semi-back area of the restaurant and right next to a window that had a nice view of the town square. Ardea sat down in one of the chairs and quickly ordered a Pepsi.
Once the waiter was gone and they were left to decide what they wanted to eat, Ardea glanced at her menu and then looked back up at Zeek, figuring a bit of small talk was appropriate. She didn’t really know what to talk about, though. She thought for a moment and then sighed, hating that she wasn’t even able to keep a simple conversation with another performer going. Then a thought popped into her head and her faith was renewed.
“So how do you like the circus thus far?” Ardea questioned, figuring that it was the best course of action to just stick with the things that they had in common.
