Cheshire had the poster up three weeks ago, and today was the day he would get recruits. Already there were people crowding in the circus ring, waiting for the auditions to start. They had already turned in their applications, now it was time to see if they can perform. Ches scrutinized each and every one of them in a far distance. They didn't look too bad; it was a variety of tall, short, thin, fat, and crazy looking. You know, the circus is not only for looking weird...Then again, he shouldn't be the one to say that. He too was rather strange looking. It wasn't everyday you saw a man with cat ears and a tail.
After a few moments of waiting, the impatient Cheshire Cat decided it was time to begin.
"Alright!" Ches shouted as he walked over to the center of the ring. "Welcome, welcome, ladies and gents! I'm glad all of you came here today to try out for my circus! As the poster have stated, I am looking for creativity, talents, and specialties!" He emphasized greatly on the 'specialties'.
"As you all know, this is the circus! And what we do the most is that we entertain, we make the audience laugh and awe at our greatness!" He clamped his hands together, smiling widely. "And I'm looking for such greatness!"
"Anyone who would like to show his or her greatness, step up, now!" Cheshire announced, smiling widely with anxiety. Let the fun begin...

Zeek had been sat on the Ring's edge, his knee drawn up to meet his chin as he rested his jaw lazily. He had been waiting for years to find the Circus, and was more than happy to be there, but...In truth, he was exhausted. He wanted nothing more than to have the auditions performed and over with.
But a small part of him knew it wouldn't be that easy. How did he know this? Because a horrible part of him knew he wouldn't be able to just get up, perform, and prance off merry as can be.
The twenty one year old had been coiling his hair around his finger when the Cat called out to everyone. It had made him jump, effectively knocking his chin from his knee, and his hair from his palm. It took a moment for him to register the words that were being spoken, and the violet haired man stood. "You know," He called, rather out of character, but he was tired, and ever so slightly cranky. "Perhaps you should show us how it's done, first hand." Zeek had moved in front of the wall of people that had been blocking his sight of the crimson haired cat-man. But now Zeek had a proper view of him, and vice versa.

Cheshire looked around, waiting for someone to step up. They all seemed rather nervous. Understandable, but in order for them to be a great addition to the family, they were going to have to break through that wall. Otherwise, this would be getting nowhere.
His tail swished about behind him, his anxiety still building. He wanted some action! "Come on now. Don't be shy!" he called out to them with a charming smile.
"You know."
His tail immediately stopped swaying as his ears perked to the sound of the voice.
"Perhaps you should show us how it's done, first hand."
His charming smile shifted into a playful smirk, his sharp teeth gleaming bright in the spotlight. He finally caught sight of the man whom called out to him. He chuckled slightly before he turned his attention to the rest of the crowd. "Silly me. I should have thought about that! Would that calm your nerves?"
He didn't wait for an answer, he was more than willing to show of a bit. With quick movement, he back flipped a few feet away and landed gracefully before snapping his fingers. At the signal, two women walked to his side, holding a curtain of sorts.
The women handed him the curtain and he held it before him, covering every inch of himself to where the audience couldn't see him. The women grabbed a hold of the curtain, releasing him and once he was capable, he quickly shifted to his cat form and the women dropped the curtain, revealing his feline self.
After allowing all to see the transformation, they lifted up the curtain once more and immediately dropped it once again, revealing him back to normal. It was a simple trick but he didn't want it to be too revealing. You never know if some unwanted attention could be here. Didn't want to be caught now, did we?
"Thank you, ladies." As they walked away, he returned back before them, clasping his hands once more. He faced the man who spoke out with a playful grin. "Now. Would you like to try? I would really enjoy to see what you have under your sleeve!"

Zeek had watched with eyebrows raised. Okay, perhaps he underestimated the catman. He had assumed the tail and the ears were some sort of dress-up, but he had forgotten that he was no longer the only mutant he knew. Zeek had been alone for a long time, and yes, he missed interaction, but it was so foreign for him to be around people that were like him, and not after him.
Zeek paused, as the question was posed to him, he didn't like being in the spotlight, but he had wanted to get it over and done with as easily as he could manage. And there seemed to be no better opportunity than what he was just offered.
"I'm supposing I should give it a try.." The tall, slender man stepped forward moreso, and into the light the Cat had pounced into. The man had dressed to match his hair. Magenta boots, slim fitting lilac creased trousers and a deep violet tailed coat. He had dressed to make the impression, and an impression he would be making.
"Now, there is something you might want to know." The twenty-one year old stated, stepping off of the floor and up to what seemed to be a miniature cloud. "I do enjoy a bit of a dance." Zeek's monotone voice was almost whisked away as he stood upon the cloud. Now, usually, if you stood on a cloud, you'd fall right through and crash into the floor, or whatever it was you were to plummet into. "And, I might add, I like to put on a bit of a show while doing so." Zeek informed not only Cheshire, but the rest of the crowd also.
With every step, Zeek's long fingers tipped in every which way, manipulating the clouds beneath him. How was he doing it? Summoning the air around him, manipulating the particles to fight against one another and form a small white puffy cloud. Now, with every step, another cloud formed, but Zeek wasn't stepping, he was twirling, dancing from side to side as the clouds vanished then reappeared with a practiced precision.
Zeek's hair spun as did the clouds, eventually turning to a deep grey as he hopped upwards, twirling and dropping down more clouds. "Impressed yet?" He called down to the cat, from a cloud not too far above his head.

His tail swished about excitedly as he awaited the answer. He assumed the man would take the offer. He was putting him on the spot. Hey! He had to get this show on the road somehow!
"I'm supposing I should give it a try.."
His grin widened with pleasure. "Perfect!" He bowed slightly and gestured towards the spotlight, "The spotlight is yours!"
As the man made his way to the center of the ring, he backed up slightly, in order to get a good view. He had to be able to view the act, otherwise it would be difficult to determine whether this guy could join. Sure, he'd accept anyone who sparked his interest and this man has certainly caught his, but Mother would be none too pleased if he accepted someone without knowing what they were capable of. And it wasn't smart to anger her.
"Now, there is something you might want to know."
Cheshire cocked a questioning brow, truly interested in figuring out what he was doing.
"I do enjoy a bit of a dance." He noticed as the man stepped upon a cloud, his ears perking with interest.
"And, I might add, I like to put on a bit of a show while doing so."
His eyes widened and he stared up with his mouth agape. Cheshire watched as the man danced about on the clouds. The man was graceful, the act was amazing. Definitely awe inspiring! A great act indeed!
"Impressed yet?"
"Very!" he chimed cheerfully with a wild smile. For a moment, he took his eyes off the act and looked towards the others looking for some reactions. They looked as entertained as he. This man was promising!

Zeek dropped, moving to sit upon the floating cloud as if it were nothing but a wooden chair planted on the floor. His back and legs were straight while his arms crossed over his chest. The twenty one year old had always believed in good posture, even while having nothing but air to hold you up. With his strict back, his long purple hair fell as straight as a ruler down to his lower spine.
"That's good, I take it there's no need to show you anything else? Unless I've really touched your fancy." Zeek droned, a slim fingered hand's twirling fingers rested now upon the cloud. Zeek was a dancer, but as a person, a cranky, sleep deprived person, he did like to tease people.
As he waited for his answer, his dark eyes gazed around the Ring, casually blowing the crowd below with a tired breeze. He didn't know why he was doing it exactly, possibly to get himself a bit of a reputation as someone who has the weather following them. Not the other way around. Zeek figured, if he gained a reputation as such, then he wouldn't get any trouble from people. Unless he met someone with enough of an attitude to knock him from his imaginary high chair.

As the man dropped, Ches began to clap, the others following suit. He guessed the performance was over. Sadly. It would have been great to see more but he supposed he should be grateful for the taste. He had seen enough to determine his fate.
"That's good, I take it there's no need to show you anything else? Unless I've really touched your fancy."
He smirked at the teasing. For a moment, he thought about requesting it, even if it were just a tease. But there were more performers that needed their chance. They couldn't be at this all night. Besides, he noticed something about the man. He was rather good at reading people. This man seemed exhausted. He chuckled, "No it's fine. I believe I've seen enough to determine my decision, efficiently."
He walked up to the man in a casual manner, his hands in his pockets and a pleasant smile. "You've done very well," he commented. "I'd love to see what more you could do before a larger audience!" Cheshire pulled his hand from his pocket and held it out before the man. "Welcome to the Circus!" He then went on further to introduce himself, "I am Cheshire, the host of this amazing circus!"
Ches then tilted his head slightly, "Now, what may I call you?"

The purple haired man smiled, his mood perking slightly as he was welcomed into the bizarre community he found he'd fit into pretty well. "My name is Zeek Fulgidus. The Fulgidus means sparkle in Latin." Zeek babbled, spewing more of his useless information as he took the Cat's hand. "But you can just call me Zeek."
Zeek shook Cheshire's hand, finding his skin soft to the touch. In truth, Zeek had expected a very fine layer of fur, now he had seen the Crimson-haired man's performance. But no such luck.
Dropping the hand he was shaking, Zeek smiled. "Anywhere for me to go now?" He asked, his voice lower now. Zeek didn't really fancy having the whole crowd knowing of his current circumstances. "You see..I don't have anywhere to stay..So.." Zeek's straight backed posture remained as it was, but you could hear the strangled awkwardness in the thinkers voice. He was finding it more than difficult to tell this..Well, to tell his Boss that he was homeless and needed somewhere to stay.
Silently, he ran his now free hand through his hair and down the silky locks. He had no money either, and didn't know if he'd get anywhere to stay. In the risk of seeming snooty, he didn't want to be known as the homeless rain-man.

Cheshire nodded once he gained the man's name. The little bit of information about his last name did not really strike him as odd. How could it? He was too insane to find anything odd! "It's a pleasure to have you, Zeek!" He was thrilled! A new addition to the family!
"Anywhere for me to go now?"
At the lowering of Zeek's voice, Ches' ears erected, listening closely. The question confused him at first. What did he mean?
"You see..I don't have anywhere to stay..So.."
Upon understanding, he gave the man a warm smile. The situation wasn't very rare, especially not for mutants. For the first few years after he'd escaped, he had lived alone on the streets. It was a dark time for him and one memory he tried hard to forget. So the solution for this man's problem was rather easy to come to. "It's fine. Don't worry. Your part of the family now. And I can't let family roam about homeless. I'll take care of everything," he answered in the same lowered voice, noting the man seemed a bit awkward about talking about it. Perhaps he didn't want people to know of his situation. He understood him fully and would make sure it would just be between the two of them if he wished.

Zeek smiled softly back at him, his cheeks warming at the thought of somewhere to stay. He'd spent a lot of time sitting on the curb with only his suitcase at his side. And the thought of a bed and a bathroom was enough to make him feel more than welcomed. All Zeek felt he needed was a bed and a bathroom, the thought of food didn't even cross his mind at the moment. Zeek had never been a strong eater, a sandwich here, an apple there, nothing too much. His mum had once called him a bird, for he had a bird's appetite.
But he figured he'd never get that name again. "Thank you." He mumbled, obviously a little more timid now he had someone taking care of him. He hadn't had that in quite a while, and it was a foreign luxury to him, that he wouldn't soon forget. Zeek moved more to the side, out of what seemed to be the performance area, and into the darkness away from the crowd. It felt good to know you were cared for, and it felt even better to be accepted instead of pitied.

"Thank you."
The words struck him hard. No matter how many times he heard those simple words spoken, he still hadn't seemed to get used to it. It just felt good to be appreciated. It made the mutant feel like he actually had a purpose in life. Which in turn made him feel loved, something he desired greatly. He put a hand to his chest and bowed softly, "My pleasure." With that, he turned on his heels and faced the others.
He hoped that the act would have inspired someone to step up readily. He wanted to see more amazing acts! But sadly, everyone still seemed hesitant. Cheshire's ears lowered slightly, bothered by the fact. Why were they so awkward? They should be more than willing to participate by now! He would have to fish out the next contestant it seemed.
"That act was amazing! Was it not? Who would like to try and top that?" It was meant to challenge them which was good because they should feel challenged. You should always try your best! Of course, this little challenge might run off some of the more timid participants... While it was sad, he supposed it was for the best. It would be rather difficult for them to perform.

Eva had stumbled around, poster crushed in her hand for almost a few weeks, trying to find the darned circus. She wasn't normal anymore, she knew that. After that last incident... Boy, that had frightened her. Something had gone terribly wrong in the months where instead of a memory, was a black haze of terror. What had occurred? Eva couldn't say. But whatever it had been, had changed her forever.
Eva couldn't even speak anymore without gathering an attentive audience. At first, she had liked it. Living on the street was hard for about half a day, until she could simply ask a person to buy her whatever she needed, and they'd do it without question. Now, it began to scare her. Normally, she'd simply talk and talk an talk until she was blue in the face. Now, she didn't dare speak a word. Now, Eva had found the poster blowing through the streets. It was pretty much a want add for freaks. And that was exactly what Eva thought she was.
Finally, she was here. Just in time for auditions. Eva had hung back in the crowd, terrified of the group of people. Worried, Eva was afraid to speak, she didn't need another... incident. Still, she had to try out. Even if she wrapped the conductor, 'that was what they're called right?' Eva question, up under her spell, she could hide herself in a fantasy world, where no one knew she had something wrong with her.
From the outskirts, Eva could hear a man calling; 'Anyone want to top that?'
Of course, Eva had missed Zeek's amazing performance, but what the hell? Why not go for it? A spark of Eva's old self began to come back. "That's a freakin' challenge man!" Eva said softly, as the people near by her turned and stared at her, transfixed. "Sorry." She muttered under her breathe as she pushed her way to the front.
"I would like to try!" Eva announced. The crowd fell instantly quiet. Eva felt self conscious, knowing all eyes were on her. She felt bad knowing they couldn't help themselves. 'Now or never...'

Cheshire's highly sensitive hearing caught the soft voice among the crowd. His grin widened as he watched the young lady approach. She was quite a beautiful girl. Pity the scientists would prey upon her. But you can't change the past. He wondered what this girl was capable of.
"I would like to try!"
This time he noticed something strange in the voice. Something unique. It rang through his ears causing them to twitch slightly. He was truly interested now.
"Of course, Love! Let's see what you've got," he replied with a wink. Cheshire escaped from the spotlight and made his way back once more to get a good look. He sat on a barrel nearby. His tail continued to sway behind him and his smile continued to shine in the bright spotlight.

Before Eva stepped forward to take the stage. She felt she needed to warn the crowd. In her rather strangely shy and innocent voice she announced, "I have to warn you all. I can enthrall you, and fill your mind with song. You're all going to experience something amazing tonight." It was said in an extremely serious voice. Yet the crowd applauded, perhaps thinking it was all part of the show. Or maybe it was just people calling for her to continue to speak. Either way, a small smile crept upon her face.
It was her time to shine, and this time, she didn't feel guilty. She had never before used her voice in song. But something inside told her how amazing it could be if she did so. And so, Eva did. She started out slow, in a language unknown to the people of human decent. Perhaps some mutants could unscramble the word and make them into something people could read. Eva sure as hell could not. In fact, Eva didn't understand what she was saying either.
Lyrics just exploded from her mouth, rolling over her tongue and out into the audience. She began to sway, letting her own song take her in. And as quickly as it started, it stopped. Eva was even in her own bubble of magic. She felt like she was floating in the air, with bubbles floating by her. Little yellow and pink stars seemed to float above her head. A roar of clapping finally brought her down. She blinked, unaware of where she was for a few moment. Eva smiled, her eyes looking at something that was not there. She felt weak for a moment, but it quickly passed. "How was that?"

"You're all going to experience something amazing tonight."
Ches smirked. She was confident wasn't she? He liked it. And by the sounds of it, so did the others. Well, he knew she could definately build up excitement. No doubt she would be an excellent performer. Now just to see if she could back those words up.
As the first note was sung out, the Cheshire Cat's eyes immediately widened. Though he couldn't understand what was being said, he knew for sure they had much emotion to them. His tail stiffened and his ears stood errect throughout the act and he leaned forward ever so slightly as he listened on.
He was lost in the melody until the sound of clapping caught his attention. His iris' that were onced narrowed into slits returned back to normal as he calmed down. He released the breath he held before joining the clapping and making his way towards her.
His ears were still ringing in almost a painful manner causing his ears to twitch continuously. But as the ringing stopped, so did the movement.
"How was that?"
He grinned that trademark Cheshire grin that granted him his name as he reached for her hand. He gently raised it to his lips, kissing it softly before looking up to her. "No doubt was I amazed. You are very talented, Love." He released her hand and took a step back, "I would like to Welcome you to our Circus! You'd be a perfect addition to our unique family."
